Trip Summary

Day 1: Padang – Bukittinggi | Jungle Views & Sianok Canyon

  • 08:00 AM – Depart from Padang and journey towards Bukittinggi, passing through the lush jungle landscapes of Malalak, a region renowned for its cinnamon production.
  • Arrive in Bukittinggi and explore the stunning Sianok Canyon, offering breathtaking views of deep ravines and verdant valleys.
  • Evening at leisure in Bukittinggi. Overnight in Bukittinggi

Day 2: Bukittinggi – Maninjau Lake & Traditional Village Life

  • After breakfast, set off for Maninjau Lake, a volcanic crater lake surrounded by dramatic hills and lush greenery.
  • En route, visit a local sugarcane factory and witness traditional sugar-making techniques.
  • Immerse yourself in the daily life of Maninjau’s villagers, experiencing rice farming, fishing, and local traditions.
  • Explore a fishermen’s village and take in the tranquil lakeside scenery.
  • Return to Bukittinggi in the evening.

Day 3: Bukittinggi – Harau Valley | Cultural & Natural Wonders

  • Morning visit to Bukittinggi’s traditional market, where you can experience the vibrant atmosphere of local trade.
  • Continue to a local permaculture and vanilla plantation, learning about sustainable farming practices.
  • Depart for Harau Valley, a paradise of towering limestone cliffs, waterfalls, and lush rice fields.
  • Upon arrival, check in to a charming bungalow and explore the surrounding village and rice fields. Overnight in Harau Valley

Day 4: Harau Valley Trekking & 1000 Caves Exploration

  • After breakfast, trek through the Harau Valley jungle, known for its dramatic landscapes and rich biodiversity.
  • Discover the legendary 1000 Caves, a fascinating natural wonder hidden within the valley.
  • In the afternoon, visit a local palm sugar production site to witness the traditional method of making palm sugar. Overnight in Harau Valley

Day 5: Harau Valley – Bungus Bay – Beach Stay in Pamutusan

  • Depart for Bungus Bay, located in South Padang.
  • En route, visit the Minangkabau King’s Palace, a magnificent representation of traditional Minangkabau architecture and history.
  • On arrival at Bungus Bay, take a speedboat (45 minutes) to your exclusive eco-lodge beach bungalow, nestled between the jungle and the sea.
  • Enjoy the serenity of this secluded paradise. Overnight in a beachfront bungalow

Day 6: Island Hopping Adventure

  • Embark on a full-day island-hopping tour, visiting:
    • Marak Island – a stunning remote island with crystal-clear waters.
    • Turtle Conservation Island – learn about efforts to protect sea turtles.
    • Pagang Island – perfect for snorkeling and relaxing on pristine beaches.
  • Return to the eco-lodge in the afternoon. Overnight in a beachfront bungalow

 Day 7: Beach Stay | Relaxation & Water Activities

  • Spend a full day enjoying the tropical paradise, with activities including:
    • Swimming in turquoise waters
    • Snorkeling in vibrant coral reefs
    • Stand-up paddling & kayaking along the coastline
  • Unwind on the beach and take in the breathtaking ocean views. Overnight in a beachfront bungalow

Day 8: Departure – Back to Padang or Airport Transfer

  • After breakfast, return to Bungus Bay by speedboat.
  • Transfer to Padang city or the airport based on your travel schedule, (Tour end)

Important Notes

·       Remote Village Stays: When visiting remote villages, please be prepared for basic living conditions that may not meet Western standards of comfort and cleanliness. However, embracing this experience with an open mind will enhance your journey. Pack accordingly and maintain a positive attitude to fully appreciate the adventure and cultural immersion.

·       Climate & Weather: Sumatra has a tropical climate, with hot and humid conditions year-round. The dry season typically lasts from May to September, though occasional rainfall can still occur. November to January experiences the heaviest rains. The average temperature on Siberut Island is 30°C (86°F). Be prepared for heat, humidity, and sudden weather changes.

·       Respect for Local Culture:

    • Sumatra’s local communities, including the Minangkabau, have deep-rooted traditions and customs.
    • Dress modestly: Both men and women should wear long trousers (below the knee) and T-shirts that cover the shoulders. Avoid shorts, sleeveless shirts, revealing tops, or skirts above the knee.
    • Loose-fitting clothing is recommended to stay comfortable in the heat.
    • Respect the local way of life, traditional laws, and environmental perspectives.

Backpack – A small daypack is ideal. You can leave unnecessary items at your previous accommodation (hotel/hostel).

    Waterproof Protection – A dry bag/pouch to keep your camera, phone, and documents safe.
