Itinerary Overview
Arrival
Day – Airport → Bukittinggi (Friday)
- Meet at Padang airport, then drive 3 hours to
Bukittinggi.
- Check in at Padi Ecolodge.
- Free time (optional: visit Sianok Canyon).
- Dinner & overnight.
Day 1
– Pacu Jawi Photography Day (Saturday)
Padang → Tanah Datar → Bukittinggi
- 08:00 – Depart for Tanah Datar Regency.
- Stop at Tabek Patah for a coffee-roastery
visit & photography.
- Lunch at a local restaurant.
- Afternoon: Pacu Jawi photography session —
capture the muddy, wild, fast action.
- Return to Bukittinggi for dinner & overnight.
Day 2
– Cultural Photography around Maninjau (Sunday)
Bukittinggi → Lawang → Maninjau →
Bukittinggi
- 08:00 – Depart for Lawang village.
- Photograph traditional sugarcane processing.
- Continue to Maninjau for village visits traditional
Minangkabau village
- Return to Bukittinggi for overnight.
Day 3
– Bukittinggi → Padang (Monday)
- Depart for Padang after breakfast.
- Photography stops at a traditional “Bika” breakfast
production.
- Stop in Malalak village (jungle views, rice
fields, cinnamon farmers).
- Check in at your hotel in Padang
- Overnight in Padang.
Day 4
– Padang → Siberut → Mentawai Jungle (Tuesday)
- 06:00 – Pickup from the hotel.
- 07:00 – Fast Ferry to Siberut (with 1-hour stop in
Pokkai for lunch).
- Continue to our transit village near Siberut Port.
- After logistics preparation, take a motor canoe
upriver through pristine jungle.
- Trek 1.5 hours to the Mentawai clan house.
- Meet the Mentawai shaman and family, and cultural introduction
Day
5–7 – Immersive Mentawai Tribal Experience (Wed–Fri)

Activities may include:
- Daily photography sessions with the clan.
- Participate in food gathering, sago harvesting
& sago making.
- Learn how to make traditional loincloths
from bark.
- Observe the preparation of traditional arrow poison.
- Early-morning hunting with the shaman. (
Occasionally, depending on our host family)
- Food gathering and processing, like Sago, sago
grubs, set up traps for wild animals
- Learn weaving techniques (rattan baskets, trays,
bags).
- Engage in storytelling & cultural exchanges
with the family.
Note: The Mentawai experience is raw
and authentic—no fixed itinerary, no staged poses, just real life.
Day 8
– Farewell to the Tribe → Padang (Saturday)
- Breakfast & farewell with the host family.
- Trek back to the river and return by motor canoe to
the transit village.
- Lunch at a local restaurant.
- 15:00 – Fast Ferry to Padang.
- 18:30 – Arrival in Padang & transfer to your
hotel.
Tour ends.

- Pacu Jawi is a harvest celebration, not an
animal-abuse event.
- There is no high-stakes competition—it’s
community entertainment.
- Bull performance influences local cattle market
value.
🛖 Mentawai Tribe – What to Expect
This is an expedition, not a luxury tour. You
must be prepared for:
- Sleeping on floor mats with mosquito nets.
- Basic local food.
- Muddy, slippery, uneven trekking terrain.
- No electricity—bring power banks.
- Hot, humid jungle climate (27–33°C).
