TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1 – Padang ➝ Siberut ➝ Mentawai Jungle

06:00 Pickup from your hotel in Padang and transfer to the harbor.
Depart by fast ferry to North Siberut (Pokkai). Transit for ±1 hour while goods/passengers are unloaded. Lunch at a local restaurant.

12:00 Continue by ferry to South Siberut.
Arrival and transfer by minivan/pick-up truck to a government settlement village.

Load logistics and continue by motor canoe upriver for 1.5–2 hours to the Rereiket jungle area. Start trekking (±3.5 km) to reach the Mentawai family’s traditional home. Arrival – Meet & greet with your host family and settle into the Uma (traditional house).

Days 2 to 3 Jungle Immersion with the Mentawai Tribe

These days are dedicated to full cultural immersion.
You will:

  • Explore the surrounding jungle with the family
  • Participate in food gathering, cooking, and daily activities
  • Observe traditional skills & customs
  • Learn their beliefs, rituals, and connection with nature
  • Experience life exactly as the Mentawai live

Important:
There is no fixed itinerary during this immersion. Activities follow the family’s daily rhythm.
If a shamanic ritual happens during your visit, you may have the chance to witness it.

Day 4 – Depart the Jungle ➝ Masokut Island ( Southern Siberut )

08:00 – Leave the jungle by canoe back to the transit village.
Transfer to Siberut Town for lunch. SpeedBoat transfer (±1.5 hours) to your Surfcamp. Arrival, check-in, relax, and enjoy a peaceful evening.

Days 5 to 9 Mentawai Surf Experience (“Playground / Wavepark”)

We will spend the next 5 days riding fun waves Mentawais for beginner and intermediate surfers. We will stay our the accommodation located near the Playground area. Experience fun waves in the Mentawais for beginner and intermediate surfers. Enjoy a crystal clear ocean with some activities snorkeling, swimming, fishing, or even just relaxing and chilling.

Day 10 – Siberut ➝ Padang

Breakfast at the resort. Transfer by boat to Mailepet Harbor.
Lunch at a local restaurant. 14:40 – Fast ferry from Siberut to Padang. 18:30 – Arrival in Padang. End of Tour

Practical Information & Conditions

Accommodation in the Jungle

  • Sleeping on a simple floor mat with a mosquito net
  • Very basic conditions: comfort & cleanliness differ from Western standards
  • No electricity — charge all devices before departure

Physical Requirements

  • Good mental preparation
  • Ability to adapt to discomfort
  • Expect muddy, slippery trails and occasional log bridges
  • Hot, humid tropical climate (27–33°C all year)

Cultural Respect

  • Be open, patient, and present
  • Avoid expensive jewelry or accessories
  • Always ask permission before taking photos
  • Do not impose your lifestyle or beliefs on the community

A private local surfcamp hosting up to 10 guests in a 3-storey traditional-meets-wooden modern house in Masokut Island
