TRIP SUMMARY


DAY 1 – Padang Siberut Mentawai Tribe

Depart from Muara Port (Padang) by fast ferry, stopping briefly in Sikabaluan for lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive in Muara Siberut and take a short rest in the government village. Continue your journey by traditional motor canoe, navigating scenic jungle rivers. Trek to the Mentawai clan house, where you will meet the shaman and his family.
Dinner & overnight in a traditional Mentawai home.


DAYS 2–4 – Living With the Mentawai Tribe (Full Cultural Immersion)

For the next three days, immerse yourself in the cultural practices and daily rhythm of several Mentawai clans:

  • Learn how natural materials are used to make traditional clothing
  • Observe and participate in sago processing, the tribe’s essential food source
  • Join hunting and fishing activities
  • Try hand-weaving with rattan
  • Discover jungle survival skills and food gathering
  • Learn about traditional medicine and how shamans prepare natural herbal remedies
  • Observe how hunters create traditional poison for arrows
  • Engage in deep conversations about their worldview, spirituality, and the human–nature relationship

DAY 5 – Farewell to the Jungle Return to Padang

After breakfast, say goodbye to your Mentawai hosts.
Trek back to the canoe point and travel by motor canoe to the government village. Freshen up, enjoy lunch, and prepare for your return ferry to Padang.
Arrival in Padang, hotel transfer, and dinner.


DAY 6 – Padang Bukittinggi | Jungle Views & Sianok Canyon

08:00 AM – Depart for Bukittinggi via the lush Malalak region, known for its cinnamon production.
Upon arrival in Bukittinggi:

  • Explore the dramatic Sianok Canyon, famous for its deep ravines and lush valleys
  • Free time to explore Bukittinggi
  • Overnight in Bukittinggi

DAY 7 – Bukittinggi Maninjau Lake | Traditional Village Life

  • After breakfast, travel to Lake Maninjau, a stunning volcanic crater lake
  • Stop at a traditional sugarcane processing site
  • Immerse yourself in village life: rice farming, fishing, and cultural activities.
  • Visit a fisherman’s village and enjoy the peaceful lakeside atmosphere
  • Return to Bukittinggi in the evening

DAY 8 – Bukittinggi Harau Valley | Cultural & Natural Wonders

  • Begin your morning with a visit to Bukittinggi’s vibrant traditional market
  • Continue to a local permaculture and vanilla plantation
  • Depart for the breathtaking Harau Valley, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and rice fields
  • Checking into a bungalow and exploring the village and the surrounding landscapes
  • Overnight in Harau Valley

 DAY 9 – Harau Valley Trekking & 1000 Caves Exploration

  • After breakfast, trek through Harau Valley’s forested landscapes
  • Explore the legendary 1000 Caves, an impressive natural formation

  • Overnight in Harau Valley

DAY 10 – Harau Valley Bungus Bay Pamutusan Island Beach Stay

  • Depart from Harau Valley for Bungus Bay (South Padang)
  • Stop en route at the Minangkabau King’s Palace to learn about architecture, culture, and history
  • Continue to Bungus Bay and transfer by boat to Pamutusan Island
  • Enjoy the serene beach, crystal-clear waters, and island atmosphere
  • Overnight at an eco-lodge on the island
