Our journey began with a belief:

The Mentawai culture cannot be understood from a distance, it must be lived.
We are local guide based in Mentawai, since 2015 we have guided travelers deep into the heart of Siberut Island to experience the unique of Mentawai culture, We are more than just local experts; we are members of this community.
Our work is dedicated to show and sharing the Mentawai culture with the respect it deserves. As local experts deeply rooted in Siberut, we offer more than just a tour. We bring you into the heart of the jungle to engage with the tribe community and build a real, respectful connection with Mentawai culture. Before transitioning into guiding, I worked with several local and international NGOs on Siberut Island, managing a variety of field projects. Driven by a deep passion for history, culture, and linguistics, and supported by my degree in History from Padang University, I committed myself to helping travelers immerse themselves authentically in the Mentawai way of life. With a foundation of strong organizational skills, deep local roots, and extensive regional knowledge, I have focused my career on building community-based and sustainable ecotourism on Siberut Island. I believe that immersive travel should be more than just an adventure; it should be an enriching, educational experience that fosters a genuine understanding of our cultural heritage. As a dedicated and experienced guide, I am fluent in French and Spanish and have spent the past 13 years crafting unforgettable journeys across Mentawai islands as well Sumatra in general. My goal is to turn every trip into a meaningful adventure filled with authentic cultural exchanges and discovery.

Local expert & Logistics
Alex is the one who keeps everything moving behind the scenes. With over 15 years of experience in the field, and coming from the Mentawai tribe family, he knows the Siberut jungle better than almost anyone. He handles the logistics to make sure the trip runs smoothly, and he cooks really good. He has a real talent for making great food over an open fire with very basic equipment, his meals are often the highlight of the day for our guests. Beyond the cooking, Alex is just a great person to have on the trail. He’s always in a good mood, has a sharp sense of humor, and knows how to keep everyone’s spirits up when the trekking gets tough. He’s a true expert, a fast learner, and an essential part of the team.

With a career spanning over two decades, Andri has been guiding travelers through the heart of Sumatra since 2000. In 2019, he joined the Mentawai team, bringing a passion for history and nature that is woven into every journey he leads. Andri doesn’t just show you the sights; he offers a profound window into Sumatra’s rich heritage. As a specialist in Mentawai culture, Andri acts as a vital cultural bridge. His deep-rooted knowledge and genuine love for people allow travelers to immerse themselves respectfully and authentically with tribal families. With Andri, your visit is more than a tour, it is a meaningful connection to the living traditions and vibrant story of the Mentawai people.

Teu Jarto : Dugout Canoe operator & Local guide
Meet Teu Jarto: Our River Specialist In the jungle, the river is our highway, and Luigi is the master of it. As our primary transportation lead, he handles the difficult task of navigating motorized canoes through ever-changing currents and shifting water depths. Safety is Teu Jarto’s top priority; he ensures that every transition from water to land is seamless and secure. He also serves as our frontline safety net. As our Risk Management Operator, he stays in the jungle with us, providing 24/7 emergency standby. Whether he’s navigating a low-tide stream or managing field safety, Luigi’s presence is what allows our team and our guests to explore with total peace of mind.

Local Guide & Driver
Adrian, an experienced tour guide with a background in anthropology, offers unique insights into the rich cultural landscape of Sumatra. Drawing on his academic expertise, he provides a deeper understanding of the region’s indigenous communities, from the matrilineal Minangkabau society of West Sumatra to the distinct traditions of the Mentawai Islands. Adrian specializes in guiding tours that explore local beliefs, traditional practices, and sustainable lifestyles, fostering meaningful cultural exchanges and encouraging thoughtful engagement with the communities.

Logistics & Transport
Gutti joined the team in the wake of 2020, initially serving as an assistant to his cousin, Alex. Since then, he has proven to be an asset in operational logistics, particularly through his extensive understanding of jungle environments and indigenous traditions. Beyond his professional capabilities, Gutti is a gifted musician, contributing his skills as both a guitarist and vocalist to our team’s culture.
